Battle of Britain Hurricane Gun-Camera Discovered

ANOTHER EXCITING FIND

At a craft show, I was approached by a local farmer who told me that he'd dug up bits of a WW2 aeroplane.

"That's great," says I "What bits did you find?"

Says he: "Oh, just some old junk. The place was dug out a few years ago and sometimes I find some
bits which get washed out from the spoil round the edge. I think one of the bits is the gun-sight"

"That's fantastic. That's not junk!" Says I "Can I come and photograph it?"

"Taint no good to me, you can have it," says he.

I was there in a flash and, ...... It wasn't a gun-site, ... It was something a lot better!!!

It's a GUN CAMERA ..... WITH UNDEVELOPED FILM !!!

Ok, the film has probably had-it as it's been exposed to the light. The cassette has obviously been
prised open but the film is wound tight and there just might be an image or two.

The other "Bits of junk" are a couple of smashed gauges, lumps of broken wooden propeller, exploded 303 ammo and
other small unidentifiable items as shown below.

I have identified the aircraft, squadron, date and time of crash and
the pilot who baled out and survived to fight again.

Some time later, I painted "Return Fire". Prints of this painting with story-sheet are
available as part of our "Echoes of the Home Front" serie
